The Mainland Affairs Council (CAC) held a press conference at 11 a.m. today (14), and Vice Chairman Liang Wenjie officially announced that the Individual Visit Scheme (IVS) for Hong Kong and Macao residents will be officially opened at 9 a.m. on 20 February. After consideration and comprehensive evaluation, applications from Hong Kong and Macao residents to Taiwan will be resumed from 9:00 a.m. next Monday (20th). Detailed instructions are as follows: 1. Resume accepting online applications for temporary visitor permits (online visas) from Hong Kong and Macao residents. Those who meet the eligibility criteria may apply for entry into Taiwan by means of an online visa or apply for an entry/exit permit in advance through the Online Application System for Foreigners (Cloud Application for Stay) of the Immigration Department of the Ministry of the Interior (MOI). Please refer to the Immigration Department's global information website for the documents and procedures required for the application. All entry control measures for Hong Kong and Macao residents implemented during the epidemic will be cancelled. Since Hong Kong and Macao residents can already apply for online visas or cloud stays to come to Taiwan, the measures to open up group visits to Taiwan on 7 November last year will no longer be processed, and applications will return to normal.
